I’ve only used Aramex 3 times, but I’m becoming more and more disappointed.
You know the saying ‘Same shit different day’? That’s how I feel about Aramex.
I was taught to always say the good before the bad, apparently it softens the blow, so that’s what I’m going to do.
I’ve never used the the postal services for international shipping, but from what I see, they take ridiculously long…months…like 3 months, sometimes even longer. I’m not about that life.
Aramex definitely makes it more convenient. I usually get my goodies with 2 weeks of when I ordered them. That includes the delivery time of which ever site I’m using, which in my opinion is awesome. If you don’t think so, please let me know who you use, so that I can get my goodies faster too!
I’m not sure if I’ve just been lucky, but my goods have never arrived damaged. I’ve received goods in boxes and padded envelopes, either way the product is received in immaculate condition.
The pricing for me…it can get expensive. I wish they would do with Global Shopper like they do with their national deliveries, go according to size and not weight. The first half a kilo is R195 and every half a kilo after that is R99.
So let’s get to the part I don’t like…
Their customer service is polite and friendly, with one or two exceptions, but they don’t always do what they promise. Two out of three times I had deliveries I had to change my address due to change in jobs. Both times the consultants pinky promised that my details were updated and both time it did not happen until a delivery was attempted. If it happened once…all would be forgiven, but twice in a row. That’s not on. I hate the thought, is that I might have to change my address soon…it this going to happen again?
Do we not live in the age of technology? Can they not do a self-help video, that shows the process that follows once you’ve placed your order, including screen shots of how your account is updated and when you are expected to do what. With my second package, I wasted something like a week because I didn’t know that I had paid the delivery and not customs. I found it weird that I bought cosmetics for over R 1 000 and wasn’t being charge any customs fees but who was I to argue? After all it was only my second time importing. How was I to know that Aramex would add their delivery fee and only days later add the customs and tax charges?
Has Aramex not heard of email notifications? I can’t remember with the other deliveries, but with the last one I didn’t receive a notification to say that they received the package, that the delivery fee was been added and I can pay now nor that the customs and tax fees were added and that I could pay now. I didn’t even get a message to say that the package had been successfully delivered, which wouldn’t have been so bad if the person who signed for the package was the person who’s name was on the delivery…but they allowed the receptionist to sign. It doesn’t work with deliveries in big companies, because the postal room does not know everybody. We have had people sign for boxes and the delivery was done to the wrong address or there’s no-one there by that name. The courier company usually covers these costs if anything like this happens but why allow it to happen in the first place. The very least you can do, is send me a notification to say the delivery has been completed so that I am aware that I should check with the receptionist or whoever.
Maybe if their service was better I wouldn’t feel that R195 for the first half a kilo was so much money!
Now that that’s out of my system, I feel better!
Woosa!
