If I was stuck on an island and could only choose 3 makeup items…It would be foundation, mascara and setting spray…in that exact order.
I’ve recently been on the hunt for a drug store foundation and boy what a struggle it has been.
I read quite a few reviews on the LA Girl HD foundation, applied a bit in store to a small area of my face and thought ‘This could be it!’. It was not it…when I applied it to my entire face, it looked way too glossy for my liking. I’m not a very oily person…but it made me feel like Barbie and not in a good way…it made me look like plastic. I did love the coverage, though. It covered my blemishes and red spots.
The second foundation I tried was the L’oréal’s Infallible. I loved it! The only problem was…I bought it in the wrong shade. I applied the tester to my entire face and continued shopping. Before I left the mall, I checked my makeup and it hadn’t moved. It looked quite natural too.
When I got home I removed the makeup without checking if anything had changed. The next day I applied my foundation and off to work I went. I got the strangest stares but no-one said anything. During one of my breaks I made my way to the bathroom and got the shock of my life when I realised just how orange I was. The best part was, I decided I did something wrong and did the same thing the next day…it was still orange. On the first day, I also realised that the foundation became quite patchy on the chin and nose area. On the second day I added a second coat and it looked a lot better.
I got a bit frustrated and went without foundation for a few days, which I do every now and then. Determined not to waste my cash, I decided to mix the LA Girl and L’oréal foundations……ahhhhhhhh(the sound of the heavens opening…). It was awesome! I love the combo!
Together they give me the perfect coverage!
I won’t be purchasing both in future though…then I might as well just purchase Mac or something along those lines. The winner between the two is definately the Infallible, which is what I will be using on a daily basis once I finish these two.
The Infallible setting spray definately makes a difference. The only problem is…you have to shake it REALLY well. There’s even ‘shake very well stickers’ on the bottles. I find that if you don’t shake it well enough, it just doesn’t work and your foundation becomes patchy…which doesn’t happen if you use the foundation on it’s own. The foundation and setting spray work well together!
Definitely my new fav!
