I love face masks. I enjoy the peel-off masks more because I enjoy peeling it off and the effect they have on my skin…is that weird?
These are clay masks, but I still wanted to try them out. I currently don’t have any L’oréal products in my daily routine but I think that’s about to change.
I took advantage of Clicks’ buy 3 and pay for two special and got all three of these babies for R300. Bargain!
Each mask contains:
- Koalin: known to absorb impurities.
- Montmorillonite: recognised for helping eliminate imperfections.
- Ghassoul: highly concentrated in minerals renowned to help clarify complexion.
The first mask I tried was the Detox mask which also contains Charcoal. I didn’t expect my blackheads or pimples to immediately disappear simply because it is a clay mask and and not a peel-off mask.
According to L’oréal it’s supposed to:
Act like a magnet to draw out impurities. The creamy texture detoxifies the skin’s surface by cleansing deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautiful without drying it out.
Did it work?
Yes. The first and second time I used it my skin felt a bit dry and dehydrated, which I kind of expected. With any type of detox they warn you to hydrate, so I didn’t expect this to be any different. My blackheads did not all magically disappear but there was a difference. The area with the least improvement is definitely my nose. My pimples didn’t disappear either but felt they they got smaller and some disappeared a few days later.
Conclusion: This mask is good for long term effect. If you’re looking for something that’s going to remove your blackheads immediately, this ain’t it. Rather go for a peeling mask. I also use my Dermalogica Multi Active Toner after this mask to rehydrate my face. Together they leave my face soft, hydrated and clearer.
Mask number 2: Purity Mask contains Eucalyptus extract.
According to L’oréal it’s supposed to: The creamy texture works deep into the pores, leaving skin purified and matte-looking, without drying it out.
Does it work?
Yip. It’s a lot less dehydrating than the charcoal. My oily spots include my forehead nose and chin. This is where I saw the biggest change. It definitely mattifies without drying out the skin.
Conculsion: Love it! I’m not very oily person but this makes skin softer and less oily especially in the T-zone without drying the rest of my face that is not as oily.
Last but not least…the Glow mask which contain Red Algae.
According to L’oréal it’s supposed to: illuminate skin tone by exfoliating the skin’s surface without drying it out.
Who doesn’t like glowy skin? Does it work?
Yebo. This mask is the only mask that contains granules, which exfoliates the skin and helps give the skin a healthy glow. This mask is the least drying.
Conclusion: This might be my favourite. Pores decreased in size and my skin looked visibly healthier.
ALL IN ALL?
I love these masks and I think they work great together. The Detox and purifying masks can be applied thinly but found that with the Glow mask I had to apply it slightly thicker. As per the box, you will definitely get about 10 applications out of the little jar, which works out to R15 an application. I consider that to be quite reasonable, but it doesn’t mean I won’t be looking out for the next special. According to the instructions you should use each mask 2-3 times a week. Sorry L’oréal, mamma ain’t got that kind of cash. I use one every 4 days and I still see and feel the difference. I also like the fact that the neck of the jar is incredibly wide, so that when it comes to getting that last bit out, it won’t be a problem.
Love these new products and have added to my weekly routine!
